TriODS Optical Distance Sensor

TriODS Features:

  • Reduces inflated IRI and PI values caused by pavement texture
  • Bridges transverse joints, and reduces their effect on profile measurements
  • Better profiler repeatability on textured surfaces, meets ASTM E 950
  • Currently in use for QC/QA testing by state DOT's as well as paving contractors

    • The Ames TriODS sensor has been independently tested by the American Concrete Pavement Association. Please refer to ACPA R&T Update 5.01 dated January 2004 found here for further details. The sensor is available on both Model 8200 High Speed and Model 6200 Lightweight profilers, and can be easily retrofitted onto standard Ames profilers. The Ames TriODS is immune to pavement color - it works equally well on new or existing concrete or asphalt surfaces and performs well under all ambient light conditions.
